Amersham Town Centre, Daybreak opened in 2004. The nursery is situated in a prime location opposite Amersham Train Station (Metropolitan line) and in close proximity to Amersham Town Centre. This is our founding nursery providing quality flexible childcare to Amersham for over 13 years.

In 2014 due to demand and an opportunity to acquire Chiltern Avenue, we decided to split the nursery and create a Babies only nursery. This is unique to childcare, a nursery dedicated only to babies.  It is a home from home enviroment that is safe and stimulating with surroundings catered to the younger age group, but still maintaining close links with the pre-school children at Chiltern Avenue.

Jo is our Nursery Manager in Amersham she has over 20 years experience in childcare. She has been at Amersham since it opened in April 2004 and has been instrumental in its success.  Jo has two daughters both of whom have attended Daybreak giving her a real insight into how Daybreak works from a parent’s perspective.  Her passion to create a ‘home from home’ environment is in evidence at the nursery where the children and staff act in harmony as an extended family.

Our Rooms

Babies (3 months – 15 months)

Our cosy ‘home from home’ baby room is separate from the baby sleeping room and nappy changing area. The main baby room allows the children to participate in a range of sensory and exploratory activities, with independent access to equipment. Each child’s emotional and developmental needs are individually catered by adopting flexible routines. We also have a separate sensory room for the babies to enjoy and explore. The Sensory room is used daily in small groups with many wonderful activities to stimulate the babies learning and development.

Our settling in sessions are designed to speed up bond building between our staff and your child. Having a parent or carer present in addition reassures the child in his/her new environment and gives you an opportunity to get to know the staff. We therefore encourage your presence in these sessions.

Our staff are trained in ‘Baby Signing’ to encourage alternative forms of communication and interaction. We also support parents to continue these practices at home.

Toddlers (15 months – 2 ½ years)

The toddler room provides a bright and spacious environment with a range of activities that support both child-initiated play and adult-led exploration exercises. The room layout comprises designated areas where children are encouraged to become immersed in sensory, creative and tactile activities. All resources and equipment is child safe and are readily assessable to your child.

Our Garden

Our children enjoy ready access to our garden area, where they can participate in physical activities as well as learning about the outside world. We have an established garden designed to appeal to all our children. Our digging pit is perfect for energetic excavation, our allotment allows our green fingered children to explore nature and the scents and textures of our diverse herb garden provides a wonderful sensory feature for all to enjoy. Two further sections of the garden are for differing age ranges. In each, children can play freely, explore and try out our wheeled toys on the safety play surfaces
