Laura Stevens – Nursery Manager

Laura Stevens is the Nursery Manager of Amersham Chiltern Avenue nursery. She is a committed Daybreak team member and has been with us for over 7 years when she joined as a Nursery Nurse at our Rickmansworth Town Centre nursery.   In this time Laura has quickly proved to be an excellent childcare professional with a flair for organising exceptional activities to augment the Early Years Foundation Stage activities that the children attending Daybreak really enjoy and benefit from.

She is incredibly enthusiastic and loves creating a fun environment for our children.

Our Rooms

The pre-school comprises a main playroom which is divided into designated areas for learning and play activities as outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage. These include areas for construction, role-play, home corner, mathematics and creative exploration in our new dedicated ‘messy’ room.

Our children participate in SALLEY sessions (Structured Activities for Language and Literacy in the Early Years). The SALLEY programme provides interactive activities to support the basis for future learning; these include developing listening, attention and memory skills, as well as an increasing understanding to sequencing and sound & letter recognition.

In addition we also offer additional learning experiences through weekly ICT, French Lessons and cooking lessons ensuring that all our children are provided with solid foundations to enable them to continue to flourish as they enter school years.

We like to get involved with the community and regularly take the children on outings to visit local parks, the fire station and take trips using public transport.

We pride ourselves, and are often complimented, on our strong links with the local primary schools which helps us prepare and effectively support our children as they transfer from nursery to mainstream school.

The large garden areas will enable our children to participate in physical activities as well as learning about the outside world. A digging pit that is perfect for energetic excavation, an allotment allowing our green fingered children to explore nature and the scents and textures of our diverse herb garden provides a wonderful sensory feature for all to enjoy.

We also have a further play area including an outdoor classroom, where the children’s learning can be supported through a range of resources and equipment; as well as having the opportunity to play freely, explore and try out our wheeled toys on the safety play surfaces.
